Friendship Providers in Action is a non-profit street ministry helping to serve the houseless and welfare communities and spread the love of God in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

Our History

What We Do

Friendship Providers in Action was founded by Donna Crocker in 1995, and has been operational in the Lower Mainland for 27 years.

Throughout the years, Friendship Providers in Action has received countless donations and support from various churches, and has grown into a thriving street ministry made up of a community of warmhearted people that have a passion to serve.

On a personal level, Mrs. Crocker has served for 10+ years as a member of the board for the Salvation Army, successfully opened 2 street churches for those in need, and has acted as a hospital Chaplin to provide support for community members in hospice or prison.

In 2013, Donna Crocker was awarded the Order of British Columbia for her years of dedication to serving the local communities of Vancouver.

Each Sunday, volunteers from four different teams gather to serve food and distribute donations to hundreds of people living in various areas around Downtown Vancouver.

We travel to three different locations to serve sandwiches, homemade soup, and desserts that have been prepared in advance during the weekend before.

Donations of clothing, toiletries, blankets and other essential items are gathered during the week and are also distributed along with the meals each Sunday.

Our dream is to one day open a place where all the needy people can come, and stay and get the help they need both mentally and physically.

Church Involvement

With a background in a fostering community and serving others, Friendship Providers in Action is currently working with 4 different churches throughout the Tri-Cities and Fraser Valley. The support and volunteer efforts given by the members of these communities have blessed us in enabling our efforts to continue this ministry.

If you are part of a church that would like to get involved with our ministry, please contact Ed Roy for opportunities for involvement.

Volunteers

With generous hearts and a love for others, our volunteer teams are dedicated to giving back to communities within the Lower Mainland.

We are always looking for the helping hands of volunteers. General volunteer inquiries can be fielded by Donna Crocker via phone.

If you are interested in joining a volunteer team located within a specific region, please check out our contact page for who to contact based on region (ie. Langley, Coquitlam. etc).
